Major Quality Factors of Al Pouch Film

Battery safety is directly connected to the safety of electronic device users. 

To ensure battery safety, battery pouch film has to satisfy its quality standard such as external surface (foreign substance, bubble, wrinkle) and insulation resistance to be manufactured into batteries.

 Most of all, electrolyte resistance is especially directly linked with battery safety and formability is the key of external packaging process for battery manufacture. 

Electolyte Resistance


As charging and discharging repeats, electolyte inside the battery reacts to moisture under high temperature, making hydrofluoric acid(HF)Gas.

Hydrofluoric acid causes degradation of cPP strength and decomposition of AI//cPP adhesive layer. This reduces adhesive strength between interfaces and causes delamination.

Formability 


In the process of forming aluminum pouch film into 3D battery shape, as forming depth becomes deeper, the possibility of battery angle damage goes higher. 

Better formability signifies secure and stable battery manufacture(productivity improvement). Electric car battery require better formability than electronic device battery because it has to used for a long time after charging while containing large quantity of anode/cathode/separator/electrolyte.

At 9.0mm forming depth, BTL aluminum pouch film appears no crack, layer separation, wrinkle or whitening.
